Rheem Value Series™ 13/14AJM: what “value” means here
The Rheem Value Series™ High Efficiency 13/14AJM condensing unit is the result of ongoing development aimed at improving efficiency. With system efficiency as high as 17 SEER, it continues the tradition of delivering high efficiency.
It also uses an advanced alternate refrigerant that contains no chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydro-chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) (or other compounds that may leak from air conditioning systems and potentially harm the protective ozone layer of the Earth’s atmosphere). If environmental impact is part of your decision-making, that’s an important point of differentiation to keep in mind.
Durability and service access
Cabinet and design: built for the real world
Outdoor units live outside—so the cabinet design matters more than most people realize. The Value Series™ unit features an attractive, painted, louvered wrap-around steel cabinet. That wrap-around louvered design helps protect the coil from yard hazards and weather extremes, adding reliability and durability where it counts.
Serviceability is also built into the design. All controls are accessible by removing one service panel. A removable top grille provides access to the condenser fan motor and condenser coil, which makes service access easier. The combination grille/motor mount secures the motor to the underside of the discharge grille, and the grille helps protect motor windings and bearings from rain and snow.
Operation and sound: efficient airflow, quieter performance
Comfort isn’t only about temperature—it's also about how the system feels day-to-day. This unit uses a PSC fan motor designed for low-speed, quiet, energy-saving operation.
Air is discharged upward (away from bushes and shrubs), and the discharge pattern of the top grille provides minimum air restriction, helping support quieter fan operation.
The condenser coils are constructed with copper tubing and enhanced aluminum fins—a core design detail that supports heat transfer where it matters most.
Low profile: less noticeable, easier to live with
The Value Series™ features an industry low-profile design, which makes the unit less noticeable in your yard. It’s also designed to be easily installed, leaving room for optional equipment and providing optimal access for maintenance.
Warranty information to know upfront
These units feature a 10-year conditional limited parts and compressor warranty, when registered and properly installed with a new Rheem air handler or Rheem indoor coil with a Rheem gas furnace.
